FEATHERBUILT SYSTEM RAILS
These aluminum rails, in raw or powder coated black, secure your panels as well as act as mounting points for the rest of your build. After installing rivnuts, most of which utilize factory holes, all that's left to do is screw in each rail using a T-handle wrench (all of which we provide). Our versatile rails not only secure your ceiling panels but also provide a convenient mounting solution for cabinets or other storage features. This innovative design allows you to create a truly modular and customizable campervan conversion system that works seamlessly with our other products.
1/4" [6mm] Ceiling Panels
Fabricated from ¼" materials, these panels keep your build lightweight while adding structure and a finished look. With your choice of laminated plywood, bamboo, oak veneer, or raw Baltic Birch, you'll be sure to find something to match your aesthetic. Because of their size, it's possible for one person to install the entire kit by themselves (although we think it's more fun with two people). For the Transit 148, you will receive 6 panels.
Customization: Tailor your ceiling panel kit to fit your specific needs with our customization options. Whether you need fan cutouts, light cutouts, or both, we've got you covered. Our modular system allows for seamless integration with your campervan's existing features or future upgrades.
- Fan Cutouts: Choose from front, rear, or both for optimal ventilation (15" x 15")
- See photos for our Front and Rear fan cutout locations
- Both are centered and located to be compatible with Transit roof adapter kits
- Light Cutouts: Select 'yes' for eight 2 1/4" light cutouts

CEILING PANEL FAQs
When you order the ceiling panel kit, you will receive all the hardware necessary for attaching the rails and panels:
- Approximately 25 rivnuts and ¼-20 screws
- 4 rails
- 6 panels
- Instruction guide
- 5/32" allen wrench
We do not include any of the required tools for installing the rivnuts (see below). If you need help finding the best tools for the job, we are happy to send you our recommendations!
Our panel kits are made to order using readily available materials. Black powder coated rails require an additional 5-7 business days. White laminate panels require 10-12 additional business days.
Most panel kits ship within 10 business days. We will confirm the estimated delivery date 1 to 2 business days after your order.
Because of the size of the panels, we are able to ship these to you via UPS (no freight necessary). You will receive a smaller package containing the hardware followed by a box containing your panels and a tube containing your rails. The box with your panels is approximately 36” x 68” and up to 75lbs so we recommend having a moving buddy ready to help you unload.

Unfortunately the High Roof and Standard Roof (aka Low Roof) are not compatible with each other. We are actively working on templating a Standard Roof and will hopefully have kits available for sale soon!
If you are interested in purchasing just some of the panels, reach out to us and we can create a custom quote for you.
You have the option of adding fan cutout holes in two places:
- Front and center (two bays back from the headliner)
- Rear and center (two bays in from the rear)
- All the fan cutouts are located to be compatible with a Sprinter Roof Fan Adapter Kit.
- If you would like to add a cutout for an AC or skylight, please contact us with your dimensions and we can modify the panels for you. Please note that any changes not listed on our website make your order a CUSTOM ORDER and therefore cannot be refunded or replaced if the cutouts do not line up based on the information provided to us.
- With your order, please contact us to confirm your cutout needs!
Yes! We have the option to include eight 2 ¼” holes (4 on the driver’s side, 4 on the passenger’s side). If you are interested in LED strip lights as pictured in some of our builds, please reach out to us!
At this time, we do not offer insulated panels. However, we have a variety of insulation from our partners at Second Skin for sale HERE. Other insulation options, including Havelock wool and 3M Thinsulate, will also fit perfectly behind our panels.
The aluminum rails are fabricated from Extra Low Profile Strut Channel (also called Unistrut). As such, you can use any hardware meant for Strut Channel, such as Strut Channel Nuts which can be found at Home Depot or HERE.
Depending on your level of handiness, we estimate that this kit (including all the rails and panels), should take a person about half a day to install. The most time-consuming portion will be installing the rivnuts. There are approximately 65 rivnuts for the wall panel kits and 25 for the ceiling panel kits.
Yes! Because the rails are lightweight (only 2 lbs each!) and the panels are ¼” material that has been sectioned into manageable pieces, this kit is very friendly for solo DIY-builders.
Absolutely! In combination with the ceiling rails, our rails and wall panels are compatible with the Adventure Wagon Mule Bag as well as the Van Essential 24” and 36” duffel bags.
While our kit has many of the same features as the Adventure Wagon and Flatline systems, we have not been able to test these beds with our rail and wall kits (yet!). If you are interested in trying to install one of these beds, we would be happy to help you source the correct additional hardware that fits our rail system.
The rails are made of Extra Low Profile Aluminum Strut Channel and they are a little less than half an inch tall, a little less than half an inch wide, and a variety of lengths depending on where they fit in the van.
While the final number can vary based on the material you choose, the rails are about 5lbs total and the ceiling panels are about 40lbs total.
Absolutely! We are happy to install these for you for an additional fee at our shop in Denver.
The raw Baltic Birch is the only panel option that ships completely raw, ready to be stained, oiled, painted, or otherwise sealed. Our other panels receive either a laminate, oil, or other protective coat. If you would prefer one of these panels to be shipped raw, please send us an email and let us know and we can modify the order.
If there is a specific wood grain or material you are interested in that we have not listed here, please get in touch with us for a custom quote.
We are always in the process of working on new products and models! If you have a van that we don't offer that you can bring us for templating, we will make you a panel kit for a greatly reduced cost (vehicle-dependent).
